So here we are in another new year! Did you go into 2017 with a list of goals and resolutions again this year? Are you already struggling with sticking to them?

Want to know the reason you are struggling? It is because you are focused on the overall goal but not the end result.

Here are 3 tips to help you create goals that stick:

1. Think of the end result. What is it you want to accomplish? What do you want to have as a result? If you don’t know the end result you will not be able to accomplish the goal because you don’t know what you are aiming to achieve so in your brain you could have achieved it already even though you didn’t.

2. Plan the steps you take around the end result. For example if the end result is to change careers by the end of the year, plan out the steps you need to do that. Step one would be to explore what you need for the new career you want to go into (education, certifications, etc.). Step 2 would be to sign up for the courses you need to take. Step 3 would be to start exploring what positions are open around you and if there are any entry level jobs that you could move into while you are studying for your end goal so you already have your foot in the door. See how it works?

3.Focus each day on 3 things you need to do to reach your goal. Don’t let the day go by without moving forward. Jot down each night 3 things you must do the next day so you get closer to your goal. Then in the morning make sure those 3 things are your top priorities and that they get done before the craziness of the day takes over.

I hope you got some value from these 3 tips and if you would like my help in creating these goals and end results and the strategies to reach them I would be happy to chat!
