Career development is a lifelong process. It includes selecting a career, developing your skills, and advancing in your field. Career development is ongoing because as you know, things change constantly… your company changes, your department changes, and you change. Therefore, you should always conduct an annual career review.
Over the next 3 months, I invite you to take a look at your interests, skills and education. We will dive into these more but for this month, we are going to start by revisiting our interests.
Interests are defined as things that concern, involve, draw the attention of or arouse the curiosity of a person.
You can only find out what interests you by being open to trying new things. You want to take time to explore new options and be open to new opportunities.
What are your current top 3 interests? How are they showing up in your life?
If you don’t find that they are showing up, why is that? Do you need to block out more time to explore them? Do you need to sign up for a class? What will help?
What goals do you need to set for this year that will help you take time to really figure out what you love to do and what you don’t really enjoy as much?
Growing your skillsets and learning about new ways to grow both personally and professionally will help you to change your outlook on life and even have more fun. Who wouldn’t want more fun! Here’s an added bonus… one way to keep our mind sharp is by learning something new. Brain food! 😉
If I can help you narrow down your options or even direct you on something you want to try but aren’t sure how to go about, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to serve however I can.
